Drew Barnet
is a musician, artist and audio producer.
Drew Barnet is a multi-disciplinary artist whose works take many varied approaches. From songwriting and composition, to sound art and installation, his work is primarily focused on sound as material and is often context specific. Stemming from the curious relationship between humans and the natural world as a point of departure, he often fuses quasi-musical and instrumental elements, and through processes of deconstruction and re-composition, he seeks to create uncanny tensions in his work.
Barnet has worked, performed, and exposed in Montreal, the Eastern Townships (Estrie) and in the U.S. A few notable collaborators include Paul Maheke, Katherine Peacock, Steve Bates, Hiss Tracts, Kovacs O’Doherty, Sara A.Tremblay, Max Stein, Julian Stein, and the Brothers Pus.
Drew Barnet is originally from Sarnia, Ontario (chemical valley), and has been living and working in Quebec for more than a decade, and currently resides on the traditional and unceded territory of the Abenaki people and the Wabenaki confederacy.
